ILLUMINATE: LIGHTING FOR PEACE
Light carries meaning, tradition, and identity across cultures. In this project, students will research a culture beyond their own and design a lighting piece inspired by its art, history, language, and aesthetics.
By connecting with another culture, students will develop skills in research, prototyping, and design while empathising with and promoting intercultural peace. The final piece should not only function as a light source but also tell a story—bridging cultures and celebrating diversity.
Students showcase their design alongside their research, sharing how light can illuminate both spaces and understanding between people.
Grade: 8
Students share and peer assess work, marking a X on an XY axis for originality vs functionality.
