Statement of Inquiry: Digital image editing is a powerful tool used with and without consequence to achieve agenda and express thoughts and ideas.

My ISHCMC is a Grade 8 project that requires the students to independently put the skills that they have acquired from completing earlier tasks to use, communicating their ideas by creating a piece of advertising or marketing material that could be used by the school to promote student life at ISHCMC.

The project requires the students to consider how they view the school and how they want the school and themselves be viewed. They must also consider suitable images and editing techniques and demonstrate their technical and creative skill on which they are graded.

Prior to completing their independent task, the students complete a number of formative, skill building tasks to prepare them for their own work. The students are also asked to complete a task whereby they must ‘improve' the facial features of a person and then reflect on the ethics of doing such a thing and the impact that digital image manipulation might have on others when used in such situations.
